Spelling errors

How do you feel about people picking up spelling errors in your work?

So who isn’t on social media these days? Hardly anyone it seems. With the amount of content published each and every day, it’s hardly surprising that there are spelling and grammar errors out there.

Have you ever had that sinking feeling as you’ve published something and then realised that you had made a mistake? Well it happens. There is always room for error when you are engaging in a human process. So, if you’ve made a mistake and had that sinking feeling, you are not alone. But be prepared, the mistake will be found and it will be pointed out to you.

If it is pointed out to you, there is a real benefit – people are actually reading your content!

So how should you deal with this? Do you sweep it under the carpet and hope for the best? No ways.

Try these three tips

  1. Raise your hand loudly and proudly and own up to it. Sorry goes a long way
  2. Thank the person who spotted it
  3. Try and get somebody to proofread your work, even if it is a colleague. It is very difficult to proofread your own work, so get that second pair of eyes.

Have you been caught out? If so how did you feel? We’d love to hear your thoughts.

  1. I am curious to find out what blog system you happen to be using?
I’m having some small security issues with my latest site and I would like to find something more secure. Do you have any suggestions?
